On January 31, 2009 the very first Red Bull Fight with
Flight was unleashed on the United States. It was the brain child of Jake
Jackson and James Newton. It was a concept contest that had not been done
before. The amateur portion was a team concept. The top 10 qualifying
riders were paired as a team. The 1st with 10th,2nd with 9th and so on. The
teams then were placed into a battle format. Each team member had 1 minute
plus 1 last trick. In theory the strongest team would be the team in the
middle.
There were was a accident during
the Pre Jam when Chris Armstrong bailed out of a trick. He

competed in the qualifying rounds but then took him self out of the
competition due to the injury that he received during the pre jam. He
suffered a fracture in his arm. Get well soon Chris! Chris had qualified in
the 6th spot. This left a position open for Avram Moorey who was in 11th
place. The Teams were as Follows in no particular order.
Isiah and Brant teamed up and with a combined effort came out on top. Andrew
and Chad took 2nd Place. They each one prize packs from all of the sponsors.
Congratulations to all the riders in the am class. Everyone rode well and
gave 100% on the floor and left nothing behind.
